Celebrating the end of a hectic show season in fine style, the RidgeMonkey Pro team have bagged three big forties from three different counties in a crazy 72 hour spell!!
First to get amongst the whackers was our Media & Marketing Co-ordinator Gareth, who has recently been targeting a particular fish from a Sussex club water following a chance sighting in early March: shying away from the norm, he concentrated all his efforts into an area that the leviathan is known to frequent and nailed her on his second bite of the campaign. Following a short but frantic battle in a snaggy channel, the big mirror rolled over the net cord at the first time of asking and at 48lb 14oz it represents a new UK PB. Two Mainline Cell bottom baits and a single pouchful of trout pellets were all it took to trip up the mirror known as Alice, these were presented on a small clear spot at 10 yards range.
Mainline: RM-Tec Mono, 15lb
Hook: RM-Tec Beaked Point, size 4
Hooklink: RM-Tec Coated Braid, 25lb
Just over 24 hours later, Product Development Manager Jay got amongst the fish in his Essex syndicate and proceeded to nail a lovely lean 45lb 2oz mirror. Arriving at the lake after work, Jay spotted a group of carp soaking up the late evening sun and quietly laid three traps near to the activity. At 07:30 the following morning, his butterflied DNA S7 wafter was picked up from its silty resting spot and battle commenced in the early morning sunlight!!
Mainline: RM-Tec Fluoro, 20lb
Hook: RM-Tec Classic, size 6
Hooklink: RM-Tec Fluorocarbon, 20lb
Feeling a little left out, Editorial & Promotions Chief Dave headed to Kingsmead 1 on the RK Leisure Horton complex with the bit between his teeth: when this man is on a mission, the carp need to watch out!! 18 hours into just his second session on the water, Dave put the call out – he’d only gone and bagged the second biggest fish in the venue, Mr Pink at 46lb. Taken on a Pineapple Juice pop up over 2kg of Mainline’s prototype test bait, this capture represents a new chapter for Dave and opens the floodgates for what is set to be yet another incredible season for the reigning Carp Talk / Mainline Carp Angler of the Year.
Mainline: RM-Tec Fluoro, 20lb
