Dave Levy scoops Carp Talk / Mainline Baits Carp Angler of the Year Award!!

RidgeMonkey Pro and all round nice fella Dave Levy has scooped the prestigious title of Mainline Baits Carp Angler of the Year 2016/17!! Dave enjoyed a remarkable season on Horton Church Lake, bagging 20 carp in just 29 nights fishing, culminating in 6x 40lb+ mirrors and a 51lb 10oz grass carp. Juggling his fishing time between family and work commitments, the Essex rod also managed 14 carp to 33lb from ”the tench pit”, a trio of sub-zero 40s from Lac de Lesmont in France, a 27lb Bayeswater common live for the cameras in January and a host of other local carp on short day-only sessions.

For his efforts, Dave receives:

£1,000 Mainline bait

£1,500 Dream Lakes full package holiday for two plus bait

£1,215 x 3 Free Spirit Rods Hi 'S' ive ER With 'Carp Angler Of The Year'

£69 Spombs Carp Angler Of The Year Special Version (2x Large, 2x Medium, 2x Mini)

When asked about the award, Dave said: “I’ve been a Mainline baits user for many years and to be selected as a contender for the title was an absolute honour: to have actually won the award is mind-blowing and something that probably won’t sink in for many weeks to come. I feel really humbled, so thank you to everyone involved”

**STOP PRESS** We’re getting reports that Dave has landed the rarely caught Roger the Dodger at 50lb 2oz on just his second night back at Horton in 2017. There really is no stopping this man!!

In addition to Dave winning the overall title, our man Greg Ellis has also been announced as a very worthy runner up following an equally impressive season on the Horton complex: Greg kicked off 2016 in style by landing a 43lb+ mirror from the Church Lake in March before moving onto Kingsmead 1. Numerous 30s and 40s followed, topped by the Scarred Mirror at 47lb and a crazy one hour spell in mid-December that saw Greg land fish of 21lb, 35lb 6oz and 45lb 12oz.

Greg receives:

£500 Cash

£500 Mainline bait

£1,500 Four nights exclusive fishing at The Quarry Fishery

£390 x 3 Free Spirit Rods CTX

£69 Spombs Carp Angler Of The Year Special Version (2x Large, 2x Medium, 2x Mini)

Greg added: "I've achieved a lot in my fishing this past season and I'm overwhelmed to have come second to Dave Levy, it couldn't have gone to a better person.  My hard graft and determination has been recognised and I've been rewarded highly for my efforts. I don't think I could possibly have a better season then I've just had but I'm going to give it a good go on a few different waters in 2017 so it would be good to see how it unfolds, I'll be crowned one day"
